Drone-based mapping of the Endalen alluvial fan in Svalbardhttps://doi.org/10.18710/AED5GTHann, RichardDataverseNO2021-10-292021-10-29T12:40:30ZThis database contains a digital elevation model (DEM) and an orthomosaic map of the Endalen alluvial fan in Svalbard. The DEM and orthomosaic were built from drone-based images and a structure from motion (SfM) method with Agisoft Metashape version 1.7.4. The Endalen alluvial fan is a river outlet in Adventdalen, Svalbard. This dataset was generated in scope of a course at the University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS): "AG-221 Arctic Physical Geographical Field Techniques". The dataset contains results from 2019 and 2021. The 2019 dataset covers a smaller area but with different mapping settings (i.e. drone altitude and sideways overlap). The 2021 dataset covers the entire area. (2022-10-10)
The datasets have the following naming convention:
- 2019_400ft_80: Dataset from 2019 with nadir drone images taken at 400ft/120m altitude with a side-overlap of 80%.
- 2019_400ft_70: Dataset from 2019 with nadir drone images taken at 400ft/120m altitude with a side-overlap of 70%.
- 2019_400ft_60: Dataset from 2019 with nadir drone images taken at 400ft/120m altitude with a side-overlap of 60%.
- 2019_280ft_80: Dataset from 2019 with nadir drone images taken at 280ft/85m altitude with a side-overlap of 80%.
- 2019_Circle: Dataset from 2019 with oblique drone images.
- 2021_400ft_70: Dataset from 2021 with drone images taken at 400ft/120m altitude with a side-overlap of 70%.Earth and Environmental SciencesSvalbardDEMOrthomosiacEndalenDrone mappingOrthomosaicGeomorphology2021-10-29Hann, Richard2021-10-18CC0 1.0
