Abstract: |
Oil masks are derived manually from a time series of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images covering two different types of oil; one mineral oil emulsion and one soya oil emulsion that were released during an oil-on-water experiment (NORSE2019) in the North Sea June 2019 by NOFO (www.nofo.no). These SAR images were acquired over the exercise area with an aircraft from DLR using the F-SAR sensor (see Horn et al. (2009, July). “F-SAR - DLR’s new multifrequency polarimetric airborne SAR”. In IEEE Int. Geosci. and Remote Sens. symp. (Vol. 2). doi:10.1109/IGARSS.2009.5418244 for additional information about the sensor). The data and experiment are described in Brekke et al. “Integration of multi-sensor datasets and oil drift simulations - a free floating oil experiment in open ocean”, to be submitted. The oil makes are stored as geoTiff files where 1's represent oil-covered areas and 0's for oil-free areas. The data needs to be opened using software supporting geospatial raster data. Some of the drawn oil masks are cropped since they are located on the edge of the scene. |
