The data were collected with the use of an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) during NTNU/MarMine research cruise to the Arctic Mid-Ocean Ridge in 2016. The dataset covers parts of two axial volcanic ridges (AVRs) and a segment of mid-ocean ridge valley rift flank. The study area hosts one active hydrothermal field, Loki's Castle and three extinct hydrothermal sites, Mohn's Treasure - MT-1, MT-2 and MT-3. MT-2 and MT-3 were discovered by analysing magnetic data in combination with bathymetric data from the area. Near-seafloor high-resolution magnetic data provide insights into the siting and geological context of the vent sites, and aid in the interpretation of magmatic and tectonic processes interplay along the mid-ocean ridges.
Earth and Environmental SciencesMagnetic dataMid-ocean ridgeHydrothermal ventingEnglishLim, A., Brönner, M., Johansen, S.E., & Dumais, M.‐A.
