The files contain lists of Russian verbs found in the Udmurt social media corpus (http://udmurt.web-corpora.net/index_en.html), manually annotated for several features such as aspect or frequencies in different corpora.\nAbstract: In Udmurt, a Uralic language that has experienced long and extensive contact with the dominant Russian language, all four typologically relevant strategies of verbal borrowing are attested. This is unusual both cross-linguistically and for the Uralic family. The paper investigates these strategies and the factors that govern their choice. It turns out that, although free variation plays a major role in the distribution of strategies, there are also several important morphological, stylistic and areal factors. By analyzing these factors and the available historical data, I propose a diachronic explanation of the currently observed distribution. The study is mostly based on corpus data collected from contemporary Udmurt-language social media.","keywords":["Arts and Humanities","language contact","verbal borrowings","Udmurt","Russian","social media","corpus"],"license":"http://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0","datePublished":"2019-05-14","dateModified":"2023-09-28","includedInDataCatalog":{"@type":"DataCatalog","name":"DataverseNO","url":"https://dataverse.no"},"publisher":{"@type":"Organization","name":"DataverseNO"},"version":"1.2","citeAs":"@data{5N34CG_2019,author = {Arkhangelskiy, Timofey},publisher = {DataverseNO},title = {Replication Data for: Russian verbal borrowings in Udmurt},year = {2019},url = {https://doi.org/10.18710/5N34CG}}","funder":[{"@type":"Organization","name":"Alexander for Humboldt Foundation"}],"spatialCoverage":["Udmurtia, Russian Federation","Tatarstan, Russian Federation","Bashkortostan, Russian Federation"],"citation":[{"@type":"CreativeWork","name":"Arkhangelskiy, Timofey. \"Russian verbal borrowings in Udmurt\" Folia Linguistica, vol. 53, no. 2, 2019, pp. 519-552. https://doi.org/10.1515/flin-2019-2019","@id":"https://doi.org/10.1515/flin-2019-2019","identifier":"https://doi.org/10.1515/flin-2019-2019","url":"https://doi.org/10.1515/flin-2019-2019"}],"temporalCoverage":["2007-01-01/2018-02-28"],"distribution":[{"@type":"cr:FileObject","@id":"00_ReadMe.txt","name":"00_ReadMe.txt","encodingFormat":"text/plain","md5":"81d1e1c7f62117cc31fd24706d537e70","contentSize":"5483","description":"The readme file.","contentUrl":"https://dataverse.no/api/access/datafile/:persistentId?persistentId=doi:10.18710/5N34CG/RS5CIZ"},{"@type":"cr:FileObject","@id":"all_rus_verbs_in_udmurt.txt","name":"all_rus_verbs_in_udmurt.txt","encodingFormat":"text/plain","md5":"6abf02bfa81a11fcda3712c081c86be2","contentSize":"73005","description":"List of lemmata of all Russian verbs borrowed in the Udmurt social media corpus, annotated for several features.","contentUrl":"https://dataverse.no/api/access/datafile/:persistentId?persistentId=doi:10.18710/5N34CG/SW1DD7"},{"@type":"cr:FileObject","@id":"ins_rus_verbs_occ.txt","name":"ins_rus_verbs_occ.txt","encodingFormat":"text/plain","md5":"c26d429cc9a2c978bf099a56495518ba","contentSize":"23757","description":"List of word forms of all Russian verbs borrowed via Direct or Indirect insertion in the Udmurt social media corpus.","contentUrl":"https://dataverse.no/api/access/datafile/:persistentId?persistentId=doi:10.18710/5N34CG/U0RZOY"}]}
