Near infrared spectroscopy (NIR) is a technique that can be used for several applications, for example in analytical chemistry. However, the method requires a high SNR which mostly constrains very accurate analysis to costly lab instruments with very low noise levels. We have applied a supercontinuum laser in a fully fiber-coupled system for acqeous measurements and characterized the SNR with different components. A case study with glucose measurements was conducted with the full system.
