Abstract:

This dataset contains a global polar-low climatology based on the atmospheric reanalysis ERA-5 for the years 1979 to 2020. The climatology of polar lows is provided by two lists. One for the Northern Hemisphere (NH) and one for the Southern Hemisphere (SH). Further, ERA-5 representations of five observational-based polar-low lists created by Noer, Rojo, Smirnova, Golubkin and Yanase, and the mesocyclone list of Verezemskaya are provided. For more information on the datasets please see the readme files and examine the associated publication.
