Description	This dataset contains data for a study on Melusine-Folkebøker published in Denmark and Norway between 1613 and 1877. The purpose of this dataset is to provide a bibliographical catalogue of the various editions of this text from the two regions. Each entry consists of an "index-card"-style entry containing observations and information on each edition, as well as their publication dates and locations. The database also includes so-called "ghosts", meaning editions that are not accounted for but referenced by other catalogues and/or other secondary sources. (2023-10-25)

Collection Mode	Pencil-notes in notebook which were subsequently collected in Notion database.
Type of Research Instrument	Unstructured - each edition was studied individually and duration of each studied varied between editions depending on various physical factors (i.e. length of text; fragility of text, and level of damage).
Actions to Minimize Losses	Thorough study of each individual edition and copy, taking care to note any detail. Every text was scanned/photographed as a precaution.
Control Operations	Check with bibligraphical information found in DF 7 - see metadata field Related Dataset (see above)
Cleaning Operations	Consistency checking the entries and confirming information in each entry's contents with scans/photos made of the respective edition, as well as checking DF 7 catalogue.
Notes	Limitations and potential Limitations to study and potential for further analysis The contents of the current dataset was built on directly visible elements in each text - such as narrative, textual elements (i.e. headings, publisher's name and pagination etc.) visible watermarks and binding. These elements were in turn analysed using a cursory knowledge of typography, paper and book-binding in Dano-Norwegian context. Further analysis will warrant formal knowledge of these elements (i.e. specific paper-composition and specific variations of fraktur-type). Furthermore, the current dataset is limited to Melusine Folkebøker and its composition did not include any comparative study of similar texts from the Danmark and Norway. A potential avenue of study would therefore be a comparative study of other Dano-Norwegian folkebøker using broadspecturm bibliographical analysis similar to that used in this dataset. (see "Introduction" and "Conclusion" in Related Publication).
