Data Source	Sources consist primarily of text-based historical documentation (newspaper articles, books, journals), supplemented by visual sources (photographs and banners). Most textual sources are collected through the National Library of Norway’s digitised collections, photographs mainly through digitalmuseum.no, a joint digital portal for many Norwegian and Swedish museums. The physical archives of the Buekorps Museum in Bergenhave also to some extent been used as a resource in this work.
Origin of Historical Sources	Historical information extracted from published local histories, digitised newspapers, journals, dated photographs, museum collections, and documented buekorps banners.
Characteristic of Sources	Sources consist primarily of text-based historical documentation (newspaper articles, books, journals), supplemented by visual sources (photographs and banners). Source quality varies from detailed descriptions to brief single references.
Documentation and Access to Sources	All source citations are included in the dataset’s source variable. Most textual sources are accessible through the National Library of Norway’s digitised collections; some photographs and banners are held in museum archives. The dataset includes sufficient references for independent retrieval.

Universe	The dataset covers all historically documented buekorps established outside the city of Bergen, Norway, from the mid‑19th century to the mid‑20th century. It includes every identifiable buekorps mentioned in local histories, archival newspapers, photographs, municipal records, and other published or digitized sources. The population of interest is therefore all known organized buekorps, typically composed of boys aged approximately 8–20, formed in Norwegian towns and cities beyond Bergen, regardless of duration, organizational structure, or level of documentation. The universe reflects the full geographical spread of these groups across Eastern, Western, Southern, Central (Trøndelag), and Northern Norway, insofar as they have left traceable historical records.
Time Method	Mostly cross-sectional, but some cases include multiple temporal observations (e.g., establishment year, dissolution year, or repeated mentions across different sources).
