Description
| The dataset provides element/Ca ratios of biogenic carbonate from laboratory-grown foraminifera tests of the temperate to subpolar planktic species Globigerina bulloides, collected from the Norwegian Sea in summer 2022. Specimens were grown during experiments described by Sykes et al., 2024. Culturing was carried out at low temperatures (6 – 13°C) and across a range of salinities (30.4 – 37.8) and varied carbonate chemistry (pH 7.7 – 8.3, decoupled [CO32-] 77 - 225 µmol/kg). This dataset includes elemental ratios (Mg/Ca, Na/Ca, and Sr/Ca) for these cultured G. bulloides, as measured by Laser Ablation Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry at the Centre for Earth Research and Analysis Southampton, University of Southampton (summer 2023). It also includes element/Ca values from the culturing substrate. Data corresponds to articles Sykes et al. (in submission) and Sykes et al. (2024). (2025-10-24) |
