Description
| DATASET MIGRATED FROM FIGSHARE:
This dataset provides a validated, literature-derived resource for mapping experimental and scale-explicit thermochemical gasification research from laboratory to commercial scale. A total of 1,863 unique records entered the metadata extraction and validation workflow. During post-validation scope checking, two records were identified as anaerobic biological “bio-gasification” rather than thermochemical gasification and were marked for exclusion. The final included thermochemical gasification set therefore comprises 1,861 records, while all 1,863 processing records are retained in the deposited files to preserve the complete audit trail. Each record is linked to its underlying publication through a unique record_id. Technical metadata were extracted from article titles and abstracts using a predefined 12-field schema organised operationally into two extraction groups. Extraction Group 1 comprises gasification technology, experimental scale, capacity, feedstock, gasifying agent, particle size and temperature range. Extraction Group 2 comprises feed rate or throughput, pressure range, equivalence ratio, catalyst use and type, and bed material. The final thematic dataset contains harmonised and curated representations of these descriptors; capacity is represented through separate value and unit fields, while feed-rate or throughput values are retained as reported rather than converted to a common reporting basis. A separate study_type field was assigned manually from article titles. The extraction workflow used GPT-4o-mini to generate candidate structured values from titles and abstracts under explicit prompting and text-anchoring rules. A separate LLM-assisted validation stage generated field-level ok, mismatch and need_check flags. All flagged cases were subsequently reassessed manually against the corresponding title and abstract, and only curator-approved values were incorporated into the final dataset. Additional post-validation audits were conducted for temperature and gasifying-agent assignments where literal text agreement alone was insufficient to establish the correct process interpretation. The repository includes the final thematic dataset, bibliographic metadata, intermediate extraction and validation records, manual-curation records, temperature- and gasifying-agent-specific post-validation audit files, and the Python scripts and documentation required to inspect and reproduce the workflow. The resource is intended primarily for literature mapping, study identification and publication-level analysis of reported gasification technologies, scales, feedstocks and operating conditions. Because the technical metadata are limited to information sufficiently supported by titles and abstracts, absence of a value should not be interpreted as evidence that the information is absent from the full publication.

Data Source
| As of March 2025, Elsevier's Scopus database contains over 100 million records. The data files in this dataset contain extractions from 1.863 Scopus records, which means approx. 0.0017% of the Scopus database records. The extracted data thus only represent non-substantial portions of the Scopus database, and the dataset is not designed to replicate or replace the functionality of the Scopus database. Therefore, the reuse (including redistribution) of these extracts is permitted by the exceptions rules in IPR and database protection regulations, such as the EU Database Directive (cf. article 8 Rights and obligations of lawful users), "uvesentlige deler av databaser" (Norway; cf. § 24 in Åndsverkloven), "sitatretten" (Norway; cf. § 29 in Åndsverkloven). |
